ARTIST STATEMENT
I am a storyteller.
My work is a visual articulation of how I process my life and the world in which we live.
It’s the way I reconcile and cope with what I don’t understand.
It’s about fear, overcoming challenges, seeking, finding and choosing joy.
It’s about faith, hope and imagination.
It's about who I was, who I am and who I hope to be.
The majority of my work is abstract expressionism based on emotion and experience.
I combine words, color, shape, texture, mixed mediums, and a variety of styles and techniques,
to visually translate how I interpret the multi-faceted layers of the human spirit.
I believe the power of art lies both in its subjectivity and its connectivity.
Every piece tells its own story in its own way, yet the story it tells to one person may be radically different from the story it tells another. This is one of my favorite things about art.
The elements that spark a connection for one may be the very same aspects which resonate the least with another.
When I finish a work of art, I relinquish what it was about for me.
I've told the story I needed to tell in the way I felt it needed to be told.
How others see, interact with, and translate my work is completely up to them.
Their interpretation and perception will be rooted in their emotions and life experiences.

My greatest hope is that in some small way,
the art I create helps others process their lives and the world in which we live,
just as it has done for me.
